Converse Revives Iconic Weapon Series: Classic Styles Return Ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend

Ahead of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, Converse is reintroducing the iconic Converse Weapon and its low-cut counterpart, the Weapon Ox, following a string of successful collaborations with fragment design, UNDEFEATED, and Kasina.

Originally launched in 1986, the Converse Weapon quickly became the sneaker of choice for the stars of the late ’80s and early ’90s. Now, Converse is bringing back both the Weapon and Weapon Ox in their original material composition and design, aiming to introduce these classic silhouettes to a new generation of sneaker enthusiasts. Featuring leather uppers, Star Chevron underlays, egret cup soles and outsoles, and the signature Y-bar of the Weapon, both models stay true to their heritage.

The Weapon received a modern update in 2020 as part of Converse’s CX line, incorporating an enhanced CX foam midsole for improved comfort and performance. Additionally, in 2021, the Weapon was reimagined by Rick Owens as the TURBOWPN.

Leading the revival of the Converse Weapon is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the All-NBA first team point guard and two-time All-Star, who stars in a campaign inspired by the original 1986 “Choose Your Weapon” advertisements. Gilgeous-Alexander symbolizes the transition from the stars of the ’80s to the next generation, carrying forward the legacy of this iconic silhouette.

The Weapon will be available in its original colorways of black and natural ivory, as well as vintage white, ash stone, and egret. Meanwhile, the Weapon Ox will be released in white and black, and vintage white and vintage cargo color options. Both silhouettes are set to drop on February 8th on converse.com and at selected retailers.
